Lake exposure is a real variable

Irmo straddles the Richland and Lexington county line and runs right up on Lake Murray, and homes near the water do not weather like homes a few miles inland. Open exposure means more direct sun on more elevations, and water in the air means the surface stays damp longer after a storm or a heavy dew. Both shorten the interval between repaints. A house on a wooded interior lot might hold a good exterior finish for a long stretch; the same house with an open view of the lake will show its south and west elevations fading and chalking well before the rest of it.

That is worth knowing before you buy paint. The right product for an exposed lake-facing elevation is not the same as the one you would put on a shaded back wall, and pretending otherwise is how homeowners end up repainting twice.

Trim, soffits, and the parts people skip

Irmo has a lot of houses with generous trim packages, tall gable ends, and deep soffits. Those are the parts that fail first and the parts a cheap estimate quietly leaves out. When you compare quotes here, check whether soffits, fascia, and the gable ends are in the scope, because on a two-story house that is a meaningful part of the labor and it needs ladder or lift work rather than a quick pass from the ground.

Interiors and HOA considerations
