Brick houses are a trim job

A lot of Cayce is brick. Brick ranches from the fifties and sixties, and older mill village houses closer to the river. On an unpainted brick house the exterior scope is not the walls at all, it is the trim: fascia, soffits, window and door casings, porch columns, railings, shutters, and the eaves. That is detail work, it is almost all brushwork, and it is where the whole appearance of the house lives. Done well it makes a sixty-year-old ranch look cared for. Done fast it looks exactly like what it is.

Some Cayce homeowners do want the brick itself painted, and we do that work. It needs the right masonry coating and a genuinely clean, dry surface, or it will peel in sheets.
